About The Position

Riverside Eye Center is seeking an Ophthalmic Technician to work in the Lewiston and Norway offices. The role involves interacting with patients, conducting preliminary tests, and managing various administrative tasks to ensure smooth clinic operations. Riverside Eye Center is a comprehensive eye care practice specializing in the diagnosis and treatment of medical and surgical diseases of the eye. Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent; additional certification or training in ophthalmic/optometric technology is beneficial.
  • Medical experience is beneficial.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills are essential.
  • Detail-oriented with strong organizational abilities.
  • Proficiency in using electronic health record (EHR) systems preferred.
  • Proficiency in using Windows computer programs is essential.
  • Ability to work in both Lewiston and Norway offices is required.

Nice To Haves

  • additional certification or training in ophthalmic/optometric technology is beneficial.
  • Medical experience is beneficial.
  • Proficiency in using electronic health record (EHR) systems preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Greet and prepare patients for eye exams, explaining procedures and updating patient records.
  • Conduct preliminary tests such as visual acuity, color vision, depth perception, eye muscle movements.
  • Assist with diagnostic procedures such as tonometry, visual field testing, imaging tests.
  • Assist with contact lens fittings, teaching patients insertion and removal techniques.
  • Operate and maintain ophthalmic equipment and calibrate and clean instruments.
  • Educate patients on eye care, treatment plans, and the proper use of prescribed medications.
  • Communicate with patients addressing questions and concerns and assist with patient calls and messages.
  • Work closely with ophthalmologists, optometrists, administration, and coworkers in a collaborative team environment.
