Job Description The Ophthalmic Technician will be responsible for conducting technical and administrative patient support activities that assist the professional staff in administering the healthcare and support needed for patients and families in the outpatient neuro-ophthalmic clinic.

Requirements

  • Graduate of an accredited training program & COT or COA Certificate
  • Proficient using computers and relevant software applications
  • Ability to collaborate across departments
  • Ability to communicate effectively with team and client
  • Ability to work independently on assigned tasks as well as work effectively in a team environment
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to work efficiently and produce high quality through attention to detail

Responsibilities

  • Visual Acuity Assessment
  • pupil evaluation
  • check confrontational visual fields
  • test for color vision
  • stereopsis
  • tonometry
  • applanation tonometry
  • ocular motility testing and Visual Field testing
  • Performs specialized preliminary testing including\: Ocular Coherence Tomography (OCT) Fundus photography and B scan Ultrasound
  • Medication administration for pupil dilation.
  • Authorizations for specialty medications and imaging testing etc.
  • Maintain clean exam rooms, keep track of office supplies, and inventory.
  • Triage calls to assist with patient scheduling and addressing patient’s questions.
  • Perform other related duties as required
