About The Position

We’re looking for a fully trained Ophthalmic Technician 3 with two years minimum of refracting experience and COT certification, that is passionate and empathetic to join our team as Ophthalmic Techs. Our Techs are responsible for all the pre-exam elements of the patient visit. This includes gathering and documenting patient information and history and conducting routine and ancillary patient testing. You’ll play a vital role in the patients experience with OCLI and in helping our Dr’s to diagnose and treat eye disorders.

Requirements

  • Ability to work with all specialties and perform all ancillary tasks
  • Two years minimum of refracting experience
  • Certification as an Ophthalmic Technician (COT) or equivalent
  • At least 3 years of experience in an ophthalmic setting
  • Excellent communicator – both verbally and written
  • Outgoing, you love the idea of interacting with patients everyday
  • Comfortable providing white glove service and responding quickly to our patients needs
  • Dependable problem solver – you’re the one people call to keep cool in stressful situations
  • Positive, can-do attitude and work well in collaborative environments
  • Flexible – you roll with the punches and easily accept change
  • Regularly required to stand; walk and use hands to finger, handle, or feel
  • Frequently required to sit
  • Occasionally lift and/or move up to 10 pounds

Nice To Haves

  • Knowledgeable in ocular pharmacology such as anesthetics, steroids, antibiotics, mydriatics and cycloplegics, epinephrine, miotics and non-steroidal anti-inflammatories

Responsibilities

  • Test and record patient's far acuity, near acuity, peripheral vision, depth perception, and color perception
  • Apply drops to anesthetize, dilate, or medicate eyes and collect and process specimens for testing
  • Triage emergency cases appropriately into physicians’ schedule and maintain patient flow
  • Prepare patient and procedure room and assist ophthalmologist with procedures as needed
  • Perform first level maintenance on ophthalmic equipment and notify the office manager of any equipment malfunctions
  • Utilize, as appropriate, infection control techniques and universal precautions, and to maintain confidentiality at all times
