About The Position
We are seeking a detail-oriented Ophthalmic Technician to support physicians and deliver high-quality patient care in a fast-paced outpatient eye care setting. This role involves performing diagnostic testing, assisting with clinical procedures, and ensuring efficient patient flow.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED required
- Ophthalmic Technician Certification required
- Prior experience as an Ophthalmic Technician preferred
- Experience in ophthalmology or outpatient specialty clinics preferred
- Strong communication and organizational skills
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced clinical environment
- Strong attention to detail and patient care focus required
- Ability to work collaboratively with providers and clinical staff
- Commitment to maintaining a clean, safe, and compliant clinical environment
Responsibilities
- Perform preliminary ophthalmic testing including visual acuity, visual fields, tonometry, color vision, and ocular motility
- Assist physicians with patient flow, documentation, and clinical support
- Obtain and document patient medical and ocular history
- Prepare patients for examinations and procedures
- Clean, sterilize, and set up ophthalmic instruments and equipment
- Operate, maintain, and troubleshoot ophthalmic equipment (e.g., slit lamp, tonometer, keratometer)
- Coordinate imaging, lab work, and surgical scheduling as needed
- Maintain inventory and stock clinical areas with necessary supplies
- Educate patients regarding procedures and provide reassurance
- Assist with minor procedures, laser treatments, and in-office surgeries
