We are currently seeking a detail-oriented, team-driven Ophthalmic Technician to join our dedicated eye care team. In this role, you’ll work closely with our Optometrists to support comprehensive eye exams, assist with in-office procedures, perform a variety of diagnostic tests, and ensure patients fully understand their treatment plans and follow-up care. You’ll also help maintain efficient patient flow, accurately document exam findings, and use state-of-the-art ophthalmic equipment in a fast-paced, supportive clinical environment. Responsibilities may include administering eye medications, applying dressings, and assisting in in-office laser procedures. Requirements

Basic knowledge of medical coding terminology and conventions.
Proficiency with computers, Microsoft Office products, G-suite environments.
Willing to help in all areas, have the flexibility and effectively work in a team environment.
Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
Demonstrated excellence in communication skills, and ability to convey ideas and information verbally and in writing
Professional appearance, strong interpersonal skills, and patient confidentiality.
A strong organization with an attention to detail.
High school diploma or equivalent.
One (1) year experience as an ophthalmic assistant, experienced COA or COT preferred.
Maintains appropriate education, certification, licensure, and training.

Responsibilities

Quickly and accurately summarizes and documents what the Ophthalmologist says during an examination, including but not limited to the proper charting of the examination, documenting additions to the chief complaint, assessment, and recommendations for treatment (including justification of decisions reached when appropriate).
Maintains an awareness of the patient’s verbal and non-verbal communication when the Ophthalmologist is providing instructions as it may necessitate the scribe repeating information, and/or providing patient education materials for the patient to review at home.
Ensures the patient understands all instructions.
Take and document patients' medical histories.
Operates ophthalmic equipment, such as Auto Refractor, Retinoscopes, Phoropters, Slit Lamp, Pentacam/Topography, Wavescan, IOL master/instar, Projectors, Zeiss OCT, and Heidelberg OCT.
Pupil evaluation, Pachymetry, Humphrey Visual Field Testing, Tonometry, Color Vision Extraocular Muscle Function Testing & Hirschberg Testing.
Van Herick measurements, Worth 4-Dot test, Stereopsis testing.
Triages phone calls from patients and outside contacts following the standard of care for Ophthalmology and office policies.
Sterilize instruments and maintain ophthalmic instruments or equipment.
Assist patients in inserting or removing contact lenses.
Perform other duties as assigned
