About The Position

The Ophthalmic Technician plays a key role in supporting clinic operations by ensuring the smooth and efficient processing of new and returning patients through testing and treatment procedures. This role anticipates the needs of both patients and providers, models professional and collaborative behavior, and adheres to HIPAA regulations at all times.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and demonstrate initiative and flexibility in a team environment.

Nice To Haves

  • Certified Ophthalmic Technician (COT) preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Greet patients in a professional and pleasant manner.
  • Obtain and document patient history in the EHR.
  • Perform pre-exam tests, including A/R, confrontational fields, stereo vision, color vision, lensometry, visual acuity, pupil checks, motility, IOPs, and dilation.
  • Perform diagnostic testing including OCT, fundus photography, slit-lamp photography, and visual fields.
  • Clean exam rooms following established sanitization protocols.
  • Communicate effectively with other technicians to maintain efficient patient flow.
  • Refer patient questions about diagnoses or test results to the provider.
  • Monitor, stock, and maintain exam and procedure rooms.
  • Track and report supply needs.
  • Assist providers in satellite offices as needed.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
