About The Position

About the Position: This individual is responsible for promoting and maintaining high standards of quality care in the clinical department and with clinic staff through training, orientation, evaluation, staffing, and continuous performance improvement. Maintains all policies and procedures.

Requirements

  • High school diploma, some college preferred.
  • 2+ years of experience as an Ophthalmic Assistant
  • JCAHPO Certified Ophthalmic Assistant.
  • Experience with ophthalmic diagnostic equipment such as OCT, topography, and fundus photography.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology, especially ophthalmic terms.
  • Training and understanding HIPAA requirements and the importance of maintaining patient confidentiality.
  • Experience in training preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and organize the training and coaching of all new ophthalmic clinic staff for all assigned locations; as well as ongoing coaching/training for established clinic staff by way of in-services, lunch-n-learns, workshops as well as one-on-one engagement.
  • Documentation for clinical staff annual skill assessments for all clinic staff at assigned locations with a copy to be filed in personnel files.
  • Manage compliance training, tracking, and reporting at assigned locations.
  • Works with Clinic Manager and other clinic leadership to maintain regulatory compliance, identify process improvement opportunities, and plan strategically for clinic growth as needed.
