  • Experience in healthcare is preferred but not required. We are willing to train the right candidate.
  • Completing an accredited Medical Assistant or Ophthalmic Technician program (COA, COT, or MA certification) is preferred.
  • Previous experience in ophthalmology, optometry, or as a medical assistant or scribe is strongly preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Ophthalmic Technician: Scranton, PA Collect and document detailed medical and ocular histories, ensuring accuracy and completeness.
  • Perform a variety of diagnostic and vision function tests, including: Applanation tonometry, RefractionRetinoscopy.
  • Utilize diagnostic equipment such as the Humphrey Field Analyzer and Optical Coherence Tomography (OCT) to capture eye measurements and assist in patient evaluations.
  • Prepare patients for eye exams by administering dilating drops and providing clear instructions.
  • Report any changes in a patient’s visual acuity or symptoms to the ophthalmologist.
  • Educate patients on the proper use and care of eye drops, medications, and contact lenses.
  • Assist with inventory management and exam room supply maintenance.
  • Support clinical staff with additional administrative or clinical tasks as needed.

  • Optician: Clarks Summitt, PA Guiding patients in the selection of optical products to accommodate their prescription and financial requirements.
  • Ordering frames and lenses from vendors.
  • Assisting with frame adjustments and repairs.
  • Collecting payments and entering charges and payments into the Practice Management system.
  • Demonstrating strong customer service and sales skills, as well as experience with computer systems.
  • Optometric Technician: Clarks Summit, PA Make introductions and establish rapport with patients. Initiate patient evaluation, documenting the chief complaint, history of present illness, review of systems, and all pertinent ocular findings accurately and in accordance with compliance guidelines.
  • Perform pre-exam testing to include visual acuity assessment, including pinhole and glare testing, confrontational visual field testing, assess extra ocular muscles, pupillary evaluation, tonometry, assess angles, pupillary dilation, and all other patient services as requested by the physician including specialty tests such as color vision screening, stereopsis, dry eye testing, and Ex ophthalmometry.
  • Perform lensometry and specialized testing such as visual fields, keratometry, A/B scans, and ophthalmic photography optical coherence tomography (OCT), Optical Biometry (IOL Master and Lens star), pentacam.
  • Assist with fitting of contact lenses and instruct patients in care and insertion of lenses.
  • Complete prior-authorizations and requests for prescription refills as authorized by physician, with full documentation in patient chart.
  • Educate patients regarding administration of medications and pre- and post-operative instructions as directed by physician.
  • Check expiration date and inventory of medicines and replace as necessary.
  • Maintain inventory and order diagnostic medications and supplies.
  • Assist with maintenance of clinical examination equipment and with ordering of supplies.
  • Inspect instruments periodically for damage, send for repair, and request a replacement as necessary.
  • Open and close exam lanes daily, ensuring that equipment is wiped down in an appropriate manner, battery powered instruments are seated properly in re-charge wells, slit lamps and projectors are switched off under covers.
  • Complete manual refractions.
  • Collaborate with all doctors at Clarks Summit as needed for coverage.
  • Travel to various locations as required for coverage
  • Follow all safety procedures as per guidelines.
  • Patient Care Associate: Mountain Top, PA Greeting patients professionally, both in person and on the phone
  • Quickly answering or properly referring questions and issues
  • Optimizing provider schedules and patient satisfaction with efficient scheduling
  • Notifying providers of patient arrivals
  • Comforting patients by anticipating anxieties and effectively answering questions
  • Ensuring availability of treatment information by retrieving and updating patient records
  • Verifying financial records and collecting patient charges while filing and expediting third-party claims
  • Maintaining office inventory and equipment by anticipating supply needs and expediting supply orders
  • Provide excellent customer service
