About The Position

At Retina & Vitreous of Texas, our retina specialists realize that medicine is multi-faceted and focus on providing the best personalized treatment to our patients and do so with state-of-the-art technology in a compassionate and attentive environment. Our physicians are board certified ophthalmologists by the American board of Ophthalmology and completed an additional two-year vitreoretinal surgical fellowship in diseases of the retina, macular, and vitreous. With six MD's and eleven offices in the Houston, TX area we have an ongoing mission to always deliver the best possible care. We are now hiring for an Ophthalmic technician that will support a high-volume ophthalmic practice that focuses on providing quality and compassionate care to each patient needing complete eye care services. This position requires customer service skills, excellent interpersonal and communication skills, and a degree of independent decision-making.

Must be flexible with traveling to various locations
Ability to pay attention to detail
Ability to maintain confidentiality
The ability to seek instruction in areas where he/she is not knowledgeable
The ability to recognize inconsistencies
Graduation from an accredited high school

Responsibilities

Assisting the physician as their primary facilitator for clinic.
Prepping injections for the physician.
Coordinating with the surgery coordinator for the physician's surgical needs.
Assisting patients with their needs pre and post appointment.
Must also be able to performing patient preliminary work up.
Obtaining and documenting patient medical and surgical history.
Performing visual acuity, motility and pupil exam, confrontation VF and IOP
Administering eye drops, ointments, and irrigating solutions to the eye as ordered by physician
Performing office duties and clinical tasks - entering data into EMR
Maintaining equipment and instruments, stocking supply room and exam rooms.
