About The Position

Assist Physician with patient examination and treatment, responsible for patient histories, routine diagnostic procedures, as well as some clerical duties.

Requirements

• Minimum of one (1) year experience in an ophthalmic/optometric practice.
• CITI certification to work on clinical trials at the acceptance of a job offer.
• Experience in using Electronic Medical Records (EMR).
• Reliability and dependability.
• Strong organizational skills.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Proficient in Outlook and Microsoft Office.

Nice To Haves

• Experience refracting keratoconus patients.
• Familiarity with testing equipment such as Pentacam, iTrace, Lipiscan, Schirmers, Tear Lab, lensometer.

Responsibilities

• Facilitate patient care.
• Preliminary work-up: history, chief complaint, visual acuity, eye pressure, pupil reactions, scope of vision, color vision, muscle movement, angle assessment.
• Tonometry (Applanation, Tonopen, Icare).
• Diagnostic testing: OCT, Visual Fields, Fundus Photos.
• Administer drops under physician supervision.
• Take and explain tests, procedures, treatments, and diagnoses to patients.
• Maintain and stock all exam rooms.
• Clean and maintain all instruments.
• Assist physician in minor office surgery.
• Return and answer patient phone calls as needed.
