About The Position

ROLE Our thriving ophthalmology practice is currently seeking an ophthalmic technician to assist our healthcare team with patient exams. The successful applicant will be responsible for documenting accurate and detailed information of patient visits. The ideal candidate will provide the highest quality customer service to patients, adhere to practice protocols and processes, and effectively manage the volume of work without allowing quality to be compromised.

Requirements

  • 1 YEAR EXPERIENCE PREFERRED
  • COA CERTIFIED PREFERRED
  • COT CERTIFIED
  • LASIK EXPERIENCE IS A PLUS
  • EDUCATION: HIGH SCHOOL DIPLOMA OR EQUIVALENT.
  • COA CERTIFIED
  • COT CERTIFIED

Nice To Haves

  • NextGen experience is a plus
  • Ability to multi-task
  • Ability to speak Italian, Polish, Russian or Spanish is highly desired
  • Need somebody that can work, Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays. If more hours are needed, candidate must be willing to travel to Chicago/Park Ridge and Lombard Offices

Responsibilities

  • Collecting information requested by the ophthalmologist/optometrist, such as medical histories and eye measurements.
  • Ability to test eye pressure, pupil reactions, scope of vision, color vision and muscle movement.
  • Explaining and assisting with procedures, treatments, and diagnoses to patients.
  • Will properly attach all test results to the appropriate patient chart.
  • Prepare the surgical room and equipment and observing the patient.
  • Clean and stock patient rooms
  • History taking
  • Visual acuity measurement
  • Refractometry (measurements for the glasses prescription)
  • Tonometry (measure eye pressure)
  • Measure pupil size and reactivity
  • Test and measure eye muscle function
  • Visual field testing
  • Corneal thickness measurement
  • Corneal curvature measurement
  • Corneal topography
  • Retinal nerve fiber layer measurement
  • Retinal thickness and topography
  • Fluorescein angiography
  • A and B-scan ultrasonography
  • Assist with contact lens fitting, and patient instruction
  • Prepare for and assist with in-office procedures
  • Surgical assisting
  • Travel to other clinic sites as needed
  • Any other administrative tasks as needed
