Requirements

  • High school education or GED.
  • Two years' experience as an ophthalmic assistant.
  • Must have technical and diagnostic skills to perform a comprehensive ophthalmic assessment.
  • Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Effective keyboarding skills.
  • COA certification required.
  • COT or COMT certification preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Performs a comprehensive ophthalmic assessment on ocular patients.
  • Performs diagnostic tests as indicated or as requested by the ophthalmologist.
  • Functions autonomously as part of an integrated team of ophthalmic support services.
  • Performs patient education in regard to treatment of ocular conditions as well as preventative care.
