Requirements

  • Proven experience as an Ophthalmic Technician.
  • Knowledge of medical office procedures.
  • Ability to perform indirect activities, administrative tasks and any other assigned duties that contribute to the efficient & high-quality performance of the medical practice.
  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Reliability and a strong work ethic.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with a diverse team.
  • Proficiency in data entry and typing.
  • Outstanding customer service skills.

Nice To Haves

  • Certified Ophthalmic Assistant (COA) Certification.

Responsibilities

  • Performs fundus photography and fluorescein angiographies (photographing the blood circulation of the retina).
  • Obtains and explains to patient the required consent for the fluorescein angiography.
  • Manages patients with reactions to the fluorescein dye.
  • Performs indocyanine green angiography, endothelium photography (cornea cell count), slit-lamp photography (photographing the cornea and external photographs around the eye).
  • Performs diagnostic imaging - OCT of the retina, the optic nerve, the anterior segment and the cornea.
  • Maintains all patient records as it pertains to photography or imaging.
  • Maintains patient confidentiality.
  • Keeps educational material up to date.
  • Performs the duties of an ophthalmic technician as needed and as assigned.
