Replacement Job Summary Under general direction performs ophthalmic photography, medical photography, projection, and videography. Interacts with senior medical staff in the coordinated implementation of ophthalmic photography services. Does this position require Patient Care? Yes

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent required or Bachelor's Degree Photography preferred
  • experience in Ophthalmic or Medical Photography 2-3 years required
  • Strong Training and mentoring skills.
  • Strong Communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills.
  • Ability to follow protocols and perform well in a busy stressful environment.
  • Strong patient/customer service skills.

Responsibilities

  • Performs ophthalmic photography duties to produce fundus, full face, wide angle and anterior segment photographic studies for patient records/teaching files.
  • Reviews MD orders in EPIC prior to performing photography.
  • Takes a series of color photographs and assures accuracy in identifying photographs to patient by means of labeling at time of photography
  • Provides leadership and mentorship to other Photographers
  • Using a still camera, makes proper settings and take time lapse black and white film or digital images showing progress of illuminant at fundus for diagnostic purposes.
  • Explains procedures to patient and provides instruction regarding photography, fluorescein angiography and indocynine green (ICG) angiography.
  • In the event of an adverse reaction, notifies the fluorescein lab nursing staff and provides for patient safety/comfort.
  • Documents competently in the EHR known as EPIC
