The Ophthalmic Assistant provides diagnostic information and clinical data in the ophthalmic exam to the physician, who is treating the patient. They are responsible for carrying out patient-oriented procedures under the supervision of department supervisor or nurse manager, ophthalmologist or optometrist. Provides care that meets the psychosocial, physical and general aspects of care; meets the communication needs of patient and family. The assistant is responsible for adhering to all departmental policies and procedures. Travel may be required at regional sites as directed.
