About The Position
Frantz Eye Care is looking for a candidate to fill our Ophthalmic Assistant. As an Ophthalmic assistant you will be responsible for assisting ophthalmologists in diagnosing and treating eye diseases and disorders. You will work closely with patients to obtain medical histories, perform diagnostic tests, and provide support during procedures. On the job training. Responsibilities
- Obtains patient history and chief complaint, checks vision, instills eye drops and charts procedures for medical records/EMR
- Performs diagnostic testing including OCTs, visual fields, FAs, and fundus photography
- Fields patients’ questions during visits and via phone, providing advice and resolving problems in consultation with the doctors
- Uses, cleans, and maintains equipment and supplies appropriately
- In accordance with doctor's orders preps and assists with any needed in-office procedures
- Submits patients’ prescriptions and prescription refills, with physician’s approval
- Scribes and assists doctors professionally and promptly with office procedures and patient care
