The Operator position at Ring Container Technologies is a full-time role based in Kankakee, IL, focused on the safe and efficient operation of production machinery. The primary purpose of this role is to ensure that production equipment operates smoothly while adhering to safety and quality standards. Operators are responsible for maintaining appropriate documentation, communicating effectively with staff regarding ideas and problems, and performing scheduled preventative maintenance and repairs on production equipment. They play a crucial role in producing high-quality products that meet or exceed company and customer expectations. Safety is a paramount concern in this role. Operators must follow all employer safety and health regulations as outlined by company policies and procedures. This includes adhering to the Lock out/Block Out/Tag out policy and wearing the necessary Personal Protective Equipment (PPE). Operators are expected to be proactive in identifying and addressing unsafe conditions and behaviors, participating in safety training, and reporting any unsafe acts or conditions to the Shift Production Supervisor. Daily operations involve monitoring equipment performance, explaining deviations from expected Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE), and completing machine-specific training as documented in the Operator Development Plan. Operators are responsible for performing necessary checklists, collecting quality measurement data, and correcting any deviations from quality standards. They must communicate effectively with management and maintenance personnel regarding problems, progress, and continuous improvement ideas. Operators are also tasked with personal development, which includes establishing SMART goals, seeking additional training, and participating in plant improvement teams. They are expected to maintain good housekeeping habits, ensuring that the plant's appearance meets management and customer expectations. Additionally, operators must ensure that all cleaning tasks are performed according to the Master Cleaning Schedule and maintain accurate production reporting documentation. In terms of quality and food safety, operators are responsible for producing and packing the best quality products, ensuring proper labeling, and completing quality checks at scheduled intervals. They must follow Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and report any quality or food safety issues to their supervisor. Preventive maintenance is another critical aspect of the role. Operators perform scheduled equipment changeovers and preventative maintenance tasks, manage these tasks in the Computerized Maintenance Management Software, and ensure that production equipment is in safe and efficient operating condition after each changeover. They are also responsible for maintaining sufficient parts inventory and notifying the Maintenance Manager when inventory levels are low.
