Requirements

  • Requires a high degree of mechanical aptitude.
  • Must attain passing score on Select Assessment for Manufacturing test per Production Operator profile.
  • Must be able to safely operate a fork truck and maintain the required license.
  • Must have adequate PC skills to be able to work with computerized systems.
  • Must be motivated, self-driven, and organized.
  • Must be willing to assist in other roles as called upon or needed.
  • High School Diploma / GED, required
  • Ability to work Holidays, Weekends and Overtime
  • Understanding of basic math, reading, and writing skills
  • Ability to effectively communicate, both written and oral
  • Ability to pass the Pre-employment background check & drug screen test
  • Must be highly motivated and able to work independently
  • Must demonstrate strong interpersonal and self-management skills
  • Required: Must have a High School Diploma or GED
  • Required: Must be 18 years of age or older

Nice To Haves

  • A basic understanding of the general principles of automation, automated equipment, and robotics plus knowledge of the use of this equipment as it applies to line operation is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for efficient utilization of all equipment and personnel used in producing cut, edged, and drilled glass that is ready to bend per customer requirements.
  • Make mechanical changes and adjustments to line equipment and operate all automation equipment including programmable controllers and robots as they apply to properly functioning line equipment.
  • As production demands, the operator is required to make complete changes of tooling used to produce various automotive patterns and make the necessary programming and equipment set-up changes to both programmable controllers and robots.
  • Plan and address daily production needs.
  • Make size checks of cut-not-tempered glass to ensure a quality production to meet customer specifications.
  • Make SPC checks, maintain all control charts, and complete all process checks as required.
  • Maintain line cleanliness, including proper storage of tools, emptying trash and getting full trash hoppers dumped.
  • Accurate and timely report/enter/log daily production information on cutting, edging, downtime, miscellaneous glass rejects and all other related information into the appropriate forms and/or databases.
  • Perform routine TPM activities, report maintenance needs and assist general maintenance mechanics when necessary.
  • Assign and direct personnel on pattern changes and short periods of downtime.
  • Provide relief for the line personnel in emergency situations.
  • Train new operators as necessary
  • Report all unsafe equipment and/or conditions.
  • Maintain operations at the highest standards set forth by Vitro’s customers, production, and quality departments.
