Technical Knowledge/Job Summary
Read production schedule, work order, shipping order, or requisition to determine items to be moved, gathered, and/or distributed
Knows how to operate and troubleshoot the various types of equipment used in the shipyard
Identify hazards, safe out equipment, and write safe work permits.
Will be required to work aloft (on scaffold or on manlifts) and in confined spaces.
On site training is provided.
Job Proficiency
Loads, unloads, moves, stacks and stages products and materials using a fork lift, pallet jack, clamp truck, cherry picker, crane, or other power equipment
Positions forks, cherry picker, crane, or other lifting device under, over, or around loaded pallets, skids, boxes, products, or materials and transports load to designated area
Unloads and stacks material by raising and lowering lifting device
Pulls and prepares product for shipment, ensuring that the exact number and type of product is loaded
Sorts and places materials or items on racks, shelves, or in bins according to predetermined sequence such as size, type, style, color, or product code
Perform daily inspections, maintenance, and re-fueling of all equipment
Determine what, if any, parts or equipment need service beyond shipyard personnel capabilities
Culture and Collaboration
Follow all shipyard safety policies, including proper use of PPE, fire prevention, and confined space protocols.
Assist in the training and development of junior operators
Collaborate and communicate with welders, metal fitters, pipefitters, electricians, and other trades as required to complete vessel construction or repair and to maintain efficient work flows
Work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced ship production environment
Maintain a clean and safe work area
Maintain a positive attitude toward customers and represent Saronic professionally
Make a personal commitment and be accountable for HSE results, driving toward the achievement of defined goals
