About The Position

Farmers Union Industries, LLC (FUI) is a leading agricultural-based manufacturing company headquartered in Redwood Falls, MN, with operations including Central Bi-Products, Northland Choice, Midwest Grease, Artex Manufacturing, Redwood Farms Meat Processors, and Performance Pet Products. Performance Pet, located in Mitchell, SD, specializes in creating canned dog and cat foods for various brands. The company is currently seeking applications for an Operator on the Day Shift in Chubs, offering a starting base wage of $22.25/Hr. with regular increases and a comprehensive benefits package.

Requirements

  • An understanding of basic computer technology and automated machine operation
  • Proficiently communicate, maintain records, and complete basic math problems
  • Accurately read and understand signs, labels, warnings, and company SOPs
  • Ability to work in a facility that processes multiple proteins including beef, pork, chicken, turkey, fish, lamb, rabbit, kangaroo, and egg
  • Perform safety sensitive position
  • Must be 18 years of age or older for insurance purposes

  • Canning experience
  • Knowledge of production and quality measurement tools
  • RedZone experience

Responsibilities

  • Specialized operation of machines including Palletizer/Depalletizer, Blender, Filler/Seamer, Retort, Douglas/Case Packer, Loader/Unloader, and Labeler, with cross-training on others as needed
  • Set up and operate facility manufacturing equipment according to machine-specific SOPs and safety guidelines
  • Accurately complete electronic and/or paper production reports
  • Perform quality control tests on finished products and adjust equipment or production flow as necessary to meet product standards
  • Observe machine performance and perform basic preventative maintenance or troubleshooting; escalate to Plant Maintenance, when needed
  • Assist with machine changeovers, in-depth setups, and cleanouts, when necessary
  • Cross-train on other machines to provide back-up support, as needed; train others on your knowledge of specialized equipment
  • Follow all company safety policies, practices, procedures, and improvement initiatives
  • Comply with all regulatory compliance requirements including environmental and food safety
  • Keep Shift Supervisor aware of any downtime, concerns, or issues that arise; participate in daily department huddles
  • Perform general housekeeping to maintain a clean and “audit-ready” work environment
  • Assist other production and maintenance personnel, as needed
  • Maintain regular and predictable on-site attendance
  • Assume responsibility for tasks not specifically outlined in this job description, temporarily or permanently, as situations may arise
  • Work additional hours and/or accommodate a heavier than normal workload, if requested
