About The Position

The VTD Operator accepts incoming heats to be degassed in order to meet quality standards and customer specifications including chemistry and gas content. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS Work closely with team leader to reduce downtime and improve equipment reliabilityParticipate in quality process changes and quality procedure updates Perform maintenance of equipment during downtimeComplete shift reports Communicate issues in written and verbal formats Utilize HMI and Level II softwareTake required number of samples and temperature readings during the process timeTrim all needed alloys using wire and bulk additionsRake slag off heats prior to sending to the VTD tanks Understand and comply with all company and department safety policies and procedures and complete all required training Recognize, avoid, and eliminate safety hazards Participate in safety incident investigations, follow ups, and corrective actionsHelp train employees on processes and procedures which include safety, process improvements, and procedures Stock supplies, bulk wire, samples, and temperature probesOperate forklift Perform daily housekeeping of area

Requirements

  • Good math skills
  • Ability to understand chemistries
  • Strong commitment to safety and active participation in safety-oriented work culture
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and learn shop pacing
  • Good computer skills
  • Good communication (verbal and written,) interpersonal, and teamwork skills
  • High School diploma or equivalent

Nice To Haves

  • Minimum six months LMF operations training

Responsibilities

  • Rake slag off heats prior to sending to the VTD tanks
  • Understand and comply with all company and department safety policies and procedures and complete all required training
  • Recognize, avoid, and eliminate safety hazards
  • Participate in safety incident investigations, follow ups, and corrective actions
  • Help train employees on processes and procedures which include safety, process improvements, and procedures
  • Stock supplies, bulk wire, samples, and temperature probes
  • Operate forklift
  • Perform daily housekeeping of area
