Chevron Products Company is seeking applications for the position of Operator Trainee at our Richmond Refinery in California. This role is essential for the operation of various process units and requires a comprehensive understanding of refinery policies and procedures, particularly in relation to Process and Personal Safety. The Operator Trainee will be responsible for operating a wide range of control systems and equipment, including tanks, mixers, heat exchangers, pumps, furnaces, and vacuum systems. The position involves both manual and automatic operations of valves, meters, pumps, and transfer systems that facilitate the movement of products between tanks and process units. In addition to operational duties, the Operator Trainee will be expected to maintain a clean work environment through regular housekeeping practices, ensuring that equipment such as filters, tanks, and exchangers are kept in optimal condition. This position is safety-sensitive, requiring candidates to demonstrate a commitment to Incident and Injury Free Operations, with a proven track record in safety and reliability. The role also necessitates routine driving, and candidates must possess a valid driver's license. The Operator Trainee will work a rotating 12-hour shift schedule, which may include overtime, weekends, holidays, and on-call duties. Candidates must be prepared to wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and work in various environmental conditions, including high-noise areas and outdoor settings with potential exposure to extreme weather. Physical demands include the ability to lift up to 50 pounds occasionally and work at heights with appropriate fall protection. Candidates must also be able to work in confined spaces and demonstrate the ability to obtain a TWIC card within six months of employment.
