About The Position

Production Operator Huntsman is seeking a Production Operator supporting the ADMAT Division located in Los Angeles, CA. This position will report to the Assistant Operations Manager. Job Scope This role involves Huntsman is currently recruiting for a Production Operator for our chemical manufacturing site in Los Angeles, CA. As a flexible and motivated team member, you will operate plant equipment and chemical processes safely and efficiently to production output. The Production Operator, the primary responsibility is gaining knowledge and in-depth understanding of the production process and its supporting operations and applying that knowledge to achieve the desired outcome of efficient production. The ideal candidate shall be responsible for all unit functions including housekeeping necessary to maintain a safe and efficient operation. In summary, as the Production Operator, you will: Safely handle chemicals and chemical processing equipment (vessels, mixers, reactors, dischargers, etc) for the manufacture of epoxy and polyurethane type formulations for aerospace, electronics, tooling, etc. Processes incorporate heating, cooling, vacuum, pressure, nitrogen purging and exothermic reactions Applicant must be able to follow instructions precisely as written (in English) as well as verbally and adhere to all safety precautions and PPE (personal protection equipment) requirements Shift work is required Good housekeeping is essential along with motivation for high quality Working knowledge of basic mathematics and science/engineering is necessary Use of a forklift and physical handling of drums is common The role also includes the filling of containers and cleaning of equipment and tools The individual should be able to work independently as well as part of a team, following instructions and completing tasks as assigned by Supervisor/Lead Operator Must be accurate and precise Assist employees in accomplishment of Huntsman company goals Participate in and complete company-required training programs Participate in Environmental, Health and Safety initiatives as set forth by the company

Requirements

  • Education required: High School diploma or equivalent, such as GED required
  • Experience required: 3 or more years of related experience in a manufacturing facility, preferably a chemical formulation plant
  • You must be approved/cleared by the State and Federal to extend applicable to work with controlled chemicals that Huntsman utilizes at the site
  • You must be willing and able to work any of the three shifts (1st, 2nd, or 3rd) based on business needs
  • 1st Shift Hours – 6:00 a.m. – 2:30 p.m.
  • 2nd Shift Hours from 2:00 p.m. – 10:30 p.m.
  • 3rd Shift Hours from 10:00 p.m. - 6:30 a.m.
  • Follow instructions and perform other duties as may be assigned by supervisor
  • Skills and knowledge
  • Excellent communication skills as position interface with various departments and contractors
  • Dealing with ambiguity and priority setting
  • Proven understanding of day-to-day business activities, reporting and operations
  • Computer literacy
  • Ability to work well with others and works well in a team setting
  • Able to communicate clearly with line supervisors and management

  • Step progression available based on qualification - minimum of 12 months prior to associate qualifying
