About The Position

Operations Technician Huntsman is seeking an Operations Technician supporting the Advanced Materials Division located at the McIntosh Site. This position will report to the Shift Supervisor. Job Scope The Operations Technician position is dedicated to the efficient operation of the facility. Its primary responsibility is gaining knowledge and in-depth understanding of the production process and its supporting operations, and applying that knowledge to achieve the desired outcome of efficient production. The Operations Technician shall perform and be responsible for all unit functions, including housekeeping, that are necessary to maintain safe and efficient operations, for which he/she is properly trained to perform. In summary, as the Operations Technician, you will: • Follow instructions and perform other duties as may be assigned by supervisor • Assist other employees in the accomplishment of Huntsman company goals • Participate in and complete company-required training programs • Participate in Environmental, Health, & Safety initiatives as set forth by the company; an aptitude for safety, safe work practices, good housekeeping, and continuous improvement is required • Perform all unit functions necessary to maintain safe and efficient operations, for which properly trained • Gain knowledge and in-depth understanding of the production process and supporting operations to ensure efficient production This position may require some involvement with materials regulated under the Resource Conservation and Recovery Act (RCRA). This involvement may require an understanding of applicable rules and procedures associated with RCRA wastes. A combination of training methods (e.g., computer-based training, classroom, and/or on-the-job training) will be provided prior to any such involvement with RCRA-regulated wastes.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Technical or Vocational Technology – A.S. in Pulp, Paper, and Chemical Technology
  • AIDT Training – Industrial Training
  • 5 years experience (Technical or Vocational Technology – A.S. in Pulp, Paper, and Chemical Technology)
  • 5 years experience (AIDT Training – Industrial Training)
  • One year of relevant experience may typically be substituted for one year of formal education.
  • Computer skills – requires the use of both office and process control computers
  • Direct plant experience in a chemical or paper manufacturing environment
  • Communicates tactfully and effectively both verbally and in writing, and maintains effective work relations with those encountered during the course of employment
  • Flexibility and adaptability to new instructions and teamwork is critical for job success
  • Requires personal initiative

Nice To Haves

  • Maintenance, instrument, or electrical skills a plus
  • Operator certification a plus
