About The Position

The Operator Maintenance Mechanic (OMM) position at American Water involves performing operational, maintenance, and laboratory testing procedures to ensure the effective processing of raw water into drinking water. Requirements

• High School diploma or G.E.D.
• Ability to operate company equipment and vehicles safely.
• Demonstrated proficiency in mechanical and maintenance functions required for the position.
• In-depth knowledge of federal and state environmental and drinking water regulations.
• Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations using a scientific calculator.

Nice To Haves

• 40 hour HAZWOPER certification and annual refresher training.
• Experience with SCADA systems for operational decision-making.
• Customer service skills.

Responsibilities

• Perform operational activities including receipt of chemical deliveries, record keeping, and operation of pumps.
• Conduct chemical adjustments for process control and manage disinfection processes.
• Handle sludge and perform safety inspections.
• Complete maintenance work orders through computerized systems and repair chemical feed pumps.
• Maintain cleanliness and safety of facilities and equipment.
• Conduct laboratory sampling and testing for operational control and regulatory compliance.
