About The Position

The Machine Operator is responsible for setting up, operating, and monitoring machinery used in the production of automotive parts. This role ensures that machines run efficiently, parts meet quality standards, and production targets are achieved. The Machine Operator plays a key role in maintaining safety, minimizing downtime, and supporting continuous improvement on the shop floor.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED (required).
  • 1-2 years of experience in a manufacturing preferred but not required.
  • Understanding how to start, stop, and monitor machines.
  • Familiarity with different types of machinery (e.g., CNC machines, injection molding, packaging equipment).
  • Ability to understand mechanical diagrams and blueprints.
  • Basic troubleshooting of mechanical issues.
  • Using calipers, micrometers, gauges, and rulers.
  • Performing quality checks to ensure parts meet specifications.
  • Arithmetic, decimals, fractions, and basic geometry.
  • Understanding tolerances and measurements.
  • Interpreting work orders, safety instructions, and production schedules.
  • Operating digital interfaces or control panels.
  • Basic knowledge of PLCs (Programmable Logic Controllers) is a plus.
  • Performing routine checks and minor maintenance tasks.
  • Reporting issues to maintenance teams.

Responsibilities

  • Set up and operate production machines according to work instructions and safety guidelines.
  • Monitor machine performance and make adjustments to maintain product quality and efficiency.
  • Inspect parts for defects using measuring tools and visual checks.
  • Record production data, including quantities produced, downtime, and scrap.
  • Perform routine maintenance and cleaning of machines to ensure optimal operation.
  • Report equipment malfunctions or quality issues to supervisors immediately.
  • Follow safety protocols and wear required personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Support lean manufacturing and 5S practices to maintain a clean and organized work area.
