About The Position

The Operator II position involves the manual control and movement of parts and supplies, both packaged and bulk, within a facility. This includes managing the flow of materials from holding areas to individual workstations, through succeeding operations, or to scaling areas. Key tasks encompass segregating parts, writing requisitions, maintaining part number order, scaling parts to stock, and tending to simple automatic operations and setups. The role also requires significant physical activity such as moving and lifting various containers (e.g., pallets, wire containers), stacking skids, and ensuring proper disposal of scrap materials. Beyond material handling, the operator is responsible for processing orders, which includes lumping and receiving, picking and pulling materials, logging and quality checking completed orders, removing goods from inventory, and loading orders onto trucks. Additional duties involve performing regular cycle counts, assisting with inventory control, and maintaining daily housekeeping. The position operates Monday through Friday, from 4:30 am to 1:30 pm, and requires adherence to the company's quality policy and 5S methodology for continuous improvement.

Requirements

  • 3-6 months similar experience
  • Perform duties from detailed instruction with minimum amount of supervision
  • Repetitive bending, stooping, lifting and handling of heavy loads of work
  • Pushing and pulling of hand and lift trucks
  • Demonstrate proficiency in use of pull rods, mechanical hand jacks, carts, hydraulic lift jacks and forklifts
  • Capable of lifting up to 50 lbs
  • Possess sufficient physical dexterity to accomplish required tasks
  • Use simple math skills
  • Work from lists, orders, or instructions
  • Use weight scale
  • Maintain safe and orderly material and parts holding areas
  • Operate equipment safely and wear specified PPE such as ear plugs, safety glasses, etc., as deemed necessary for the safety of operator, coworkers, and facility
  • Possess a cooperative attitude toward coworkers and management
  • Available to work long hours and weekends, as needed

Responsibilities

  • Manually control flow of parts, supplies, both packaged and bulk, from holding areas to individual workstations to succeeding operation or scaling area
  • Keep parts segregated
  • Write requisitions
  • Keep part numbers in order
  • Scale parts to stock
  • Maintain simple set-ups and tend simple automatic operations
  • Move and lift containers, pallets, wire containers, etc.
  • Stack skids or pallets in designated areas
  • Clean up and disposal of scrap, cardboard and strapping in proper containers or designated areas
  • Lump and receive orders as needed
  • Pick and pull all materials for orders
  • Log completed order
  • Quality check completed order
  • Remove goods from inventory for the department
  • Load orders on assigned truck
  • Perform regular cycle counts
  • Assist with inventory control
  • Perform daily housekeeping duties
  • Adhere to company's quality policy to provide customer satisfaction through high quality products, delivered on time at a cost that represents value
  • Adhere to 5S methodology which is to Sort, Set in Order (organize and identify), Shine (clean), Standardize and Sustain (maintain)
  • Strive for continual improvement in departmental processes and functions
