The Operator I will be a key player on the manufacturing team, primarily involved in the production of powdered nutritional supplement ingredients. Primary responsibilities encompass all aspects of the manufacturing process, including weighing and measuring raw materials, blending and mixing, discharging product for drying, grinding, and packaging and shipping of products for delivery. The ideal candidate should be skilled in all areas of production and machinery, such as blenders, grinders, encapsulation, hot water, furnaces, racks, and air collection.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or general education degree (GED); or three to six months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Understanding of basic math functions, varying units of measurement with ability to use scales and understand values.

Responsibilities

  • Comprehend Batch Formulation Sheets (BFS) and add water as specified by the water meter on faucet, verify temperatures to be sure water is within proper range, add ingredients and sign off each ingredient.
  • Properly identify, weigh and confirm dry ingredients against BFS during production.
  • Ensure paper for racks are cut to appropriate lengths and review BFS to determine if paper needs spraying.
  • Ensure paddles and equipment is clean and that product is discharged properly.
  • Correctly identify lot and product number for each set of full racks.
  • Clean blenders completely.
  • Place product in available rooms and put all product to dry in smallest amount of space (minimize oven space).
  • Verify info per BFS for grinding.
  • Be proficient in use of forklift for grinding.
  • Set-up of grinder and specified mesh screen properly per product.
  • Prepare containers for shipping.
  • Properly label product in each drum.
  • Grind product.
  • Pull samples for tracking and analysis.
  • Weigh and record drums on BFS (verify).
  • Clean grinder properly.
  • Assist in daily clean up and routine maintenance of equipment according to training.
  • Complete cleaning logs for each operation and each piece of equipment.
  • Keep plant in compliance with health department regulations AT ALL TIMES to avoid citations/penalties during routine unannounced inspections.
  • Review completed BFS for weighing.
  • Weigh and verify product.
  • Identify raw materials by ingredient name.
  • Assign lot number.
  • Be accurate in weighing and verification of each other’s work.
