From your PASSION to ours Lactalis American Group, part of the Lactalis family of companies, is hiring a Recook Operator I in Nampa, ID. Requirements The Recook Operator supports cheese production by reworking product that was not packaged. This role transfers cheese from totes into a shredder, monitors the shredding process, and prepares product for further processing through the DMC (Dynamic Moisture Control) system. It is a hands-on role that supports product quality, consistency, and production flow.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or completion of GED preferred by not required.
  • Previous experience in a food-industry or manufacturing environment preferred.
  • Basic understanding of food-safety regulations and hygiene practices.
  • Ability to lift up to 40 lbs on a regular basis.
  • Ability to stand for the full shift with repetitive bending, twisting, gripping, lifting, and reaching.
  • Basic understanding of food-safety and GMP practices (handwashing, hairnets, hygiene, contamination prevention).
  • Ability to follow written procedures (SOPs) and production instructions.
  • Familiarity with working around simple production equipment (shredders, conveyors, basic controls).
  • Awareness of quality indicators for cheese (appearance, texture, moisture consistency).
  • Basic knowledge of safe work practices, including proper lifting and general equipment-safety awareness.
  • Oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to read, write, and communicate effectively in English.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks at once with frequent interruptions.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Reliable and punctual attendance.
  • Ability to communicate and work effectively with people from diverse backgrounds.
  • Ability to follow safety rules, practice safe work habits, use appropriate PPE, and report unsafe conditions.

Responsibilities

  • Meet efficiency targets while maintaining high product quality.
  • Operate shredder equipment to process cheese safely and efficiently.
  • Monitor the shredding process to maintain proper speed, flow, and quality standards.
  • Follow all SOPs for reworking/recooking cheese and ensure compliance with food-safety regulations.
  • Report equipment malfunctions or process issues promptly to the appropriate personnel.
  • Maintain accurate records of production activities, including quantities reworked/recooked and any quality concerns.
  • Work collaboratively with team members to improve production efficiency and reduce downtime.
  • Take immediate corrective action when product does not meet quality or specification requirements.
  • Support continuous improvement efforts and contribute to operational performance goals.
