About The Position

The Machine Operator is responsible for safe operation of Granulating, material handling, extrusion, mobile equipment, and light maintenance. This role involves complying with Westlake's Safety Policies and Procedures, ensuring regular punctual attendance, timeliness, and scheduling flexibility. The operator will provide safety leadership in promoting and creating a zero-injury safety culture, operate equipment and machinery safely and efficiently, and set up and operate machines for routine established work. Responsibilities also include processing treatment of materials, monitoring and troubleshooting equipment for proper operation, and using specialized equipment specific to profile extrusion, granulation, and recycling of plastics. The operator will help maintain a clean environment, identify recyclable materials, adjust and perform preventative maintenance on equipment, and ensure quality control by examining products for defects.

  • Must be able to prioritize, stay focused, and handle multiple responsibilities.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment and adapt to frequent changes.
  • Ability to work an 8 to 12-hour shift.
  • Ability to report out and communicate in writing and verbally.

Nice To Haves

  • Preferred experience in PVC profile extrusions and/or recycling.
  • Experience in plastics extrusion, compounding, or injection molding.
  • Prior years of experience in the field or related area.
  • Background in mechanics and electrical.
  • Experience in manufacturing is a plus.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office: Word, Excel, Outlook.
  • High School or GED equivalent.
