BRIEF POSTING DESCRIPTION: The M GK OPERATIONS - KAHULUI Department of the M GENERATION Division at Hawaiian Electric Company has 2 Bargaining Unit vacancy available. (Role: NON-EXEMPT) JOB FUNCTION: Trains to perform the duties of Senior Operator Helper at the steam plant. Performs general maintenance work as assigned.
Requirements
- Ability to identify and distinguish the difference between colors, including shades, hues, and tints. (for electrician related positions)
- Must have or be able to qualify for a State of Hawaii driver’s license. Must meet the standards for driving positions stated in the Hiring Standards for Driving Positions policy. These standards may be adjusted periodically to meet business and safety objectives.
- T26: Must pass the Edison Electric Institute Plant Operator Selection System (POSS).
- Note: Employees who have taken and passed the Differential Aptitude Test (DAT) do not need to take the POSS.
- T26: Must pass the Job Sample Test.
Responsibilities
- Trains to perform the duties of Senior Operator Helper at the steam plant.
- Performs general maintenance work as assigned.
- Mans a shift with a Senior Operator Helper or Junior Boiler Operator at the steam plant and trains to perform the duties of these classifications. (Refer to Senior Operator Helper job description.)
- Is assigned operational maintenance work at the steam plant.
- May perform in relief capacity, standing watch as Sr. Operator Helper when qualified.
- Keeps equipment and work area clean.
- Maintains watch until relieved.
- Assume an emergency management role, as assigned, and perform specific assignments or functions, as needed, in an event of an emergency, not to include routine trouble calls/callouts.
- Performs similar and incidental duties as required.
- Helps on overhauls when available.
