About The Position

The M GM OPERATIONS - MAALAEA Department of the M GENERATION Division at Hawaiian Electric Company has 2 Bargaining Unit vacancy available. (Role: Non-Exempt) The position involves training to perform the duties of Senior Operator Helper at the diesel plant and performing general maintenance work as assigned. The role includes manning a shift with a Senior Operator Helper and an Operator at the diesel plant, being assigned operational maintenance work, and keeping equipment and work areas clean. The employee may also perform in a relief capacity and assume an emergency management role as needed.

Requirements

• Ability to identify and distinguish the difference between colors, including shades, hues, and tints.
• Must have or be able to qualify for a State of Hawaii driver's license.
• Must pass the Edison Electric Institute Plant Operator Selection System (POSS).
• Must pass the Job Sample Test.

Responsibilities

• Mans a shift with a Senior Operator Helper and an Operator at the diesel plant and trains to perform the duties of these classifications.
• Is assigned operational maintenance work at the diesel plant.
• May perform in relief capacity, standing watch as Senior Operator Helper when qualified.
• Keeps equipment and work area clean.
• Maintains watch until relieved.
• Assume an emergency management role, as assigned, and perform specific assignments or functions, as needed, in an event of an emergency.
