About The Position

The Operator position at Dakota Bulk Kinder Morgan involves maintaining and operating terminal equipment to safely and efficiently unload and load bulk products into and out of barges, rail cars, or trucks. The role requires adherence to safety guidelines and effective communication with supervisors regarding equipment maintenance and operational issues.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED.
• 1 year of experience operating systems and equipment related to bulk storage and processing.
• Knowledge of OSHA safety guidelines and safe use of hand and power tools.
• Ability to work in extreme weather conditions and adapt to fluctuating hours of operation.
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and perform physical tasks such as climbing ladders and working at heights.

Nice To Haves

• Experience operating mobile equipment including skid loaders and heavy haul mobile equipment.
• Willingness to cross-train into other areas of the terminal.
• Ability to work as part of a team and take direction from supervisors.

Responsibilities

• Maintain and operate the Docksider cement barge unloader and transfer equipment including bucket elevators, drags, and conveyors.
• Operate skid steer loaders, front-end articulating loaders, Trackmobile, cranes, and forklifts.
• Inspect, lubricate, and maintain terminal equipment, ensuring fluid levels are adequate and reporting deficiencies to supervision.
• Understand and follow written bills of lading for proper loading/unloading of products.
• Perform routine and preventative maintenance on equipment and facilities as per Kinder Morgan training and qualifications.
• Identify and report unsafe working conditions and comply with OSHA safety rules and Kinder Morgan policies.
• Learn to operate high pressure air compressors, air dryers, and vacuum systems, and perform troubleshooting during equipment malfunctions.
• Read and understand equipment startup, operation, and maintenance manuals.
