The Operator B position at TC Energy involves the operation and maintenance of a compressor station utilizing reciprocating engines. The role is crucial for ensuring continuous, efficient, and safe operations while adhering to environmental policies and safety standards. The ideal candidate is a self-starter with strong analytical and troubleshooting skills, capable of working independently with minimal supervision.

  • Operate reciprocating prime movers and their related mechanical equipment and automatic controls.
  • Control gas pressures and flows, change charts, keep equipment oil and water tanks filled, and oil and clean facilities.
  • Periodically inspect engines, compressors, pumps, fans, boilers, heat exchangers, and other equipment for proper functioning.
  • Operate and maintain oil/water separators and inspect tank/dike facilities.
  • Make minor repairs to equipment, maintain necessary reports, and conduct water tests and treatment.
  • Start, load, and remove from the line all prime movers, ensuring safe and efficient operations.
  • Carry out instructions for changes in pressures of flows and interpret readings on instruments, charts, and gauges.
  • Ascertain that equipment is functioning properly and rectify malfunctions by making operating adjustments.
  • Substitute auxiliary equipment and inform supervisor of needed repairs if conditions warrant.
  • Use indicators to balance engine performance and change oil filter cartridges.
  • Change orifice meter charts and read meters as required.
  • Assist with prime mover and compressor overhauls and perform tests and inspections as required.
  • Inspect fire extinguishers and check/calibrate pressure gauges and valve positioners.
  • Change compressor valves and perform various housekeeping tasks.
  • Manage contractors and vendors while on-site and adhere to environmental policies by collecting samples and reporting spills.
  • Assist in compiling shipping manifests and coordinate with gas control for facility operations.
  • Complete work orders, enter data into the work management system, and create new work orders in SAP.
  • Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills.
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision.
  • Knowledge of start-up and shutdown procedures for station equipment.
  • Experience with reciprocating engines and compressor operations.
  • Experience in the energy sector or similar industrial environments.
