About The Position

At Corbion, we exist to champion preservation in all its forms, preserving food and food production, health, and our planet.  As our next Operator, you will work under the direction of the production/shift manager (or more senior production operators), to operate automated production equipment and perform manual tasks in a clean room environment to produce biomaterial based polymers. You will produce these products consistent with production schedules, batch recipes, product specifications, area SOP's, QA policies and the standards of cGMP.  Other responsibilities include,  but are not limited to:  weighing and charging raw materials, connecting and disconnecting auxiliary equipment, packaging in-process and finished materials.  Responsible for accurate record keeping.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.  Some college preferred
  • Understands basic math and apply to weighing bulk materials or using an analytical scale.
  • 1+ years' experience in a production or manufacturing operations preferably in an automated batch chemical processing environment.
  • Operational Knowledge of processing equipment - reactors, pumps, tanks, filters, heat exchangers, etc.
  • Knowledge and hands on experience with weighing raw materials on an analytical scale (vs bulk scale)
  • Able to perform bulk measurements at multiple areas of the production process
  • Understand basic chemistry and math terms/nomenclature
  • Possesses a working knowledge of pumps and the mechanical operation of them while using a computer based program and user interface.
  • Able to determine, watch and monitor production operations, pressure and performing tracing activities using the computer based program and by observation.
  • Understands process schematics for pumps, pressure, tank operations, filters, etc.
  • Ability to trace product through vessels.  Must be able to view, monitor and understand how pressures impact the operation of machinery in the production process
  • Understands or is able to learn the compatibility of the chemicals and gasses
  • Good math skills)
  • Able to work independently, as well as a part of a cross functional team
  • Must be procedure oriented
  • Excellent time management skills and a self-starter
  • Strong planning and organizational skills
  • Able to display good judgement

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in a pharma or medical device facility, clean room environment is highly preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Operate equipment as assigned, take readings, conduct inspections, etc. for utility, auxiliary, and mechanical equipment systems in non-clean room areas of the facility.
  • Package products for shipment in accordance with applicable instructions and area SOP's, while maintaining area in a clean and orderly fashion.
  • Provide back-up support as required to the Supply Chain area which includes:  receive in-coming bulk and non-bulk raw materials, NPR materials, plant supplies, spare parts, etc.  Update computerized records and move goods to the appropriate storage location.
  • Perform lubrication and/or preventive maintenance activities as assigned, typically not requiring specialized or technical skills.  Assist maintenance technicians or contractors in performing maintenance and repairs as required.
  • Perform inspections as assigned of safety showers, eye-wash stations, fire extinguishers, and other EHS related equipment or systems.
  • Clean process equipment and production areas to prevent product contamination.
  • Work in a safe manner, in order to create an injury and accident free work place.
  • Participate on problem-resolution and process improvement teams, as assigned.
  • Other duties as determined by business needs
