About The Position

Be the one who makes a difference! At Vertex Education we are a team of high achievers, courageous leaders, and passionate believers in changing lives through education. As a purpose-led education services provider, our mission is destined to benefit many and yet it starts with just one person inspired to work together with us to make a memorable and meaningful difference for our clients, schools, students, and communities. Be the one who makes a difference—with us. We are seeking a Ops Transformation Lead to serve as the operational architect for Legacy Traditional Schools. In this role, you will architect and model foundational operational systems, leading a few major change initiatives that deliver significant, quantifiable cost savings. The right candidate will blend deep analytical rigor with a pragmatic, iterative approach, co-creating solutions with school teams to ensure new systems are both elegant and adoptable while supporting academic outcomes. You will transform ambiguous district-wide problems into tangible blueprints for change, building the robust models and streamlined processes that allow our schools to focus on our mission of changing lives through education. This role is responsible for designing the operational roadmap and future-state models for Legacy Traditional Schools.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, Operations Management, or a related analytical field.
  • Demonstrated experience in a role such as management consulting, business operations, or corporate strategy focused on internal process improvement.
  • Advanced proficiency in building complex financial and operational models in Microsoft Excel or Google Sheets to create data-driven business cases.
  • Proven experience leading cross-functional initiatives from ambiguous problem diagnosis through to solution implementation and handover.
  • Experience designing and mapping complex workflows and business processes using tools like Microsoft Visio or Draw.io.
  • Experience facilitating workshops and interviews with front-line staff to gather user requirements and co-design practical operational solutions.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, with a track record of conveying complex analyses and recommendations to senior leadership.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience working within K-12 education, a multi-site service organization, or a similar operationally complex environment.
  • Experience designing and executing pilot programs to test and iterate on new processes or technologies before a full rollout.
  • Direct experience in one or more of the following domains: workforce management, large-scale logistics, inventory systems, or centralized service models.
  • Proficiency using data visualization tools (e.g., Tableau) to analyze operational performance and communicate insights.
  • Familiarity with modern project and initiative management tools like Asana.
  • An MBA or other advanced degree in a relevant field.

Responsibilities

  • Foundational Analysis & Problem Structuring: Conduct deep-dive root cause analysis on complex operational challenges specific to Legacy Traditional Schools to identify foundational problems, not just surface-level symptoms. Translate ambiguous strategic goals and unstructured problems into defined, actionable project charters with clear objectives and success metrics for district-wide initiatives. Map current-state operational processes and workflows across Legacy Traditional Schools by embedding with campus teams to visualize bottlenecks and pinpoint opportunities for systemic improvement. Gather and synthesize qualitative data from campus-level interviews and quantitative data from operational reports to build a comprehensive view of district problems.
  • Solution Design & Business Casing: Build robust financial and operational models to quantify the potential impact, cost savings, and return on investment for proposed change initiatives within Legacy Traditional Schools. Design future-state operational blueprints for the district, detailing new process flows, service level agreements, and required organizational capabilities. Author and present clear, data-driven business cases to secure stakeholder alignment and leadership approval for a small number of major projects impacting Legacy Traditional Schools. Partner with school-level staff and department leaders in workshops to co-design practical solutions that are both analytically sound and adoptable in a campus environment.
  • Iterative Implementation & Adoption: Design and execute pilot programs at select Legacy Traditional school sites to test, gather real-world data, and validate new operational models before proposing district-wide deployment. Incorporate user feedback from pilots and early-stage rollouts to rapidly iterate on and improve solutions prior to full implementation across the network. Develop implementation toolkits, including training materials and process documentation, to ensure a smooth transition and high adoption rate for campus staff. Establish key performance indicators (KPIs) and reporting mechanisms to track user adoption and measure the real-world impact of new systems and processes. This role is accountable for designing and implementing new district-wide processes, after which ownership and ongoing maintenance are formally transferred to a designated operational department.
  • Cross-Functional Initiative Leadership: Lead designated cross-functional project teams, formally assigning tasks and holding members accountable for delivering on the project roadmap for Legacy Traditional Schools initiatives. Develop and manage comprehensive initiative plans, defining key milestones, dependencies, and communication cadences for stakeholders across the district. Facilitate project meetings to drive alignment, proactively identify and resolve roadblocks, and maintain momentum on high-impact initiatives. Manage the formal hand-off of completed processes to operational owners, ensuring they are equipped for sustainable, long-term management. This role operates as an individual contributor and influences the composition of cross-functional project teams through persuasion, but has no authority to hire, fire, or manage direct reports.
