POSITION SUMMARY The Operations Training Leader is responsible for implementing and maintaining the vision, strategy, and programs for operational training throughout the Florence location. This role ensures employees receive effective training and have access to well-structured materials that support learning, compliance, and safety in a chemical manufacturing environment. This position requires a balance of technical expertise and leadership acumen. The Operations Training Leader plays a critical role in ensuring operational reliability, regulatory compliance, and sustainable growth. Located at our Florence, Kentucky site, the Operations Training Leader reports to the Plant Manager.

Requirements

  • Associate or Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Communications, Technical Writing, Chemical Engineering, or related field or equivalent experience in a training role
  • At least 5 years in training coordination or technical writing in a chemical engineering environment

Responsibilities

  • In partnership with Solenis’ corporate Learning and Development department, develops an overall vision and strategy for Training for Operations by assessing the training management process, course offerings, and delivery methods and make upgrades to continuously improve operations
  • Develops and maintains high quality learning and development materials including but not limited to training manuals, SOPs, and process documentation specific to chemical manufacturing. Translates complex technical and regulatory information into clear, concise, and accessible content.
  • Implements advanced technological training methods such as simulations, video training, holographics, virtual reality, etc.
  • Liaises with and supports continuous improvement Communities of Practice and other stakeholders to monitor and serve competency needs (team building, learning, communication consulting & assistance, making appropriate connections)
  • Establishes and leads a Learning Council and aligns standards and best practices.
  • Collaborates with Operations & Manufacturing resources to transition appropriate Operations & Manufacturing courses into Solenis’ LMS system
  • Assists SMEs in creation of Shareable Content Object Reference Model (SCORM) content (e.g. Adobe Captivate)
  • Develops and maintains a site Training Standard and schedule
  • Develops metrics and KPI’s to keep key stakeholders updated to ensure and maintain alignment
  • Works with plant leadership and SMEs to institute appropriate knowledge management practices/processes so that institutional knowledge is preserved and effectively disseminated.
  • Builds capability among SMEs for delivery of training, including facilitation techniques and creating learning documents including leading the Instructional Design/Training of Trainers (ID/TOT) course
  • Plans, schedules, and organizes training sessions, workshops, and seminars for chemical manufacturing operations
  • Coordinates logistics such as venues, materials, and technology requirements
  • Creates and maintains training records and updates Learning Management Systems (LMS)
  • Communicates training schedules and requirements to participants
  • Collects feedback and assist in evaluating training effectiveness
  • Ensures all documentation meets company standards for accuracy, compliance, and safety regulations (OSHA, EPA, etc.)
  • Collaborates with subject matter experts (SMEs), plant leadership, and plant engineers to gather and verify technical details
  • Updates documents regularly to reflect process changes, new technologies, and regulatory updates
