About The Position

The Operations Technician is responsible for the safe and efficient startup, testing, and operation of the advanced technology uranium enrichment Cascade and associated ancillary equipment (mechanical and electrical). The Operations Technician will also be responsible for centrifuge pump down, integrated system testing, start-up, operation and monitoring. The Operations Technicians reports to the Operations Shift Supervisor. The incumbent adheres to plant policies, rules, and regulations to ensure a safe workplace and to remain compliant with procedures from operations, environmental, safety, quality assurance, security and other groups. Requirements

  • Associate of Science Degree in Engineering/Physical Sciences or successful completion of the US Naval Nuclear Propulsion Program or equivalent technical experience with High School diploma or equivalent (GED)
  • Within the past eight (8) years, must have 3+ years of plant operator experience in the chemical, nuclear, power generation, and critical infrastructure industries, similar military experience, or equivalent industrial-related experience.
  • Able to obtain and maintain a “Q” level security clearance
  • In compliance with federal law, all persons hired will be required to verify identity and eligibility to work in the United States and to complete the required employment eligibility verification form upon hire.
  • This position will require a pre­-employment background check and a pre-employment drug test.

Responsibilities

  • Work with cross functional teams to plan equipment testing requirements, develop operating procedures, training modules and routine operation inspections
  • Assist with equipment turnover from construction and perform installation, startup and functional acceptance testing
  • Monitor, adjust, and control equipment, mobile equipment, systems, structures and components ensuring proper operation and record data on approved round sheets and forms in accordance with approved operating procedures
  • Adjust equipment settings manually and through computer control, start-up, shut down and validate performance in accordance with approved procedures or test plans
  • Respond to equipment status alarms with approved Alarm Response procedures under normal, off ­normal and emergency response conditions
  • Maintain narrative log of shift activities and operational evolutions
  • Use equipment and instruments to monitor personnel and work areas for potential radiological, chemical, and physical hazards
  • May perform and/or assist with a variety of maintenance activities to support system and facility start up, performance testing, select repair, and operation
  • Perform walk-through inspections of assigned areas; document and provide resolution for identified deficiencies
