About The Position

To assist the Rhode Island Air National Guard (RIANG) Civil Engineering Operations & Maintenance Division with a variety of job requirements. Job details include Materiel Control, Vehicle Control Officer (VCO), Maintenance/Janitorial Inventory Management, Shipping & Receiving, Supply & Equipment Pricing and Data Entry, Utilization of the IEMS Management System to maintain control of various inventories, Safety Data Management (MSDS SDS EESOH-MIS), Badging and Security Clearance assistance for outside vendors, Base Snow Removal Operations, CE Operations Administrative Post

Requirements

  • KNOWLEDGES, SKILLS AND CAPACITIES: A familiarity of several building construction trades such as plumbing, painting, carpentry, electricity and HVAC systems; a familiarity with the operation of mechanical equipment; a familiarity with the use of common tools and materials; a familiarity with grounds maintenance methods and operations; the ability to use Microsoft computer programs which include Word and Excel; the ability to learn and utilize the Integrated Engineering Management System (IEMS) and the Enterprise Environmental Safety & Occupational Health – Management Information System (EESOH-MIS); the ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions; and related capacities and abilities.
  • SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS: Subject to National Agency Check (NACI) and Bureau of Criminal Investigation (BCI) background check; must have and maintain a valid state of Rhode Island driver’s license throughout duration of employment; must have the ability to obtain secret clearance. Must be able to travel and attend training required of the position.
  • Mandatory – Must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license as a condition of employment.
  • Must have the ability to operate various types of heavy equipment and obtain training/certification if required for the use of such equipment as indicated below: Military roll-over Snow Plow, Backhoe, Forklift Ten (10) Ton Dump Truck, Front-end Loade,r Military Sweepers Five (5) Ton Dump Truck, Flat Beds, Bucket Truck Military Snow Blowers, Bobcat
  • At time of appointment must be physically qualified to perform assigned duties as evidenced by a physician’s certificate.
  • Education: Such as may have been gained through graduation from high school or G.E.D. equivalent; and Experience: Such as may have been gained through: employment in building/plant operations, equipment/supply management and inventory; knowledge of building/plant maintenance work which involved at least two (2) years of building, electrical, plumbing trades.
  • Or; any combination of education and experience that shall be substantially equivalent to the above education and experience.

Responsibilities

  • Materiel Control: Maintains control and organization of inventory and supplies used for day-to-day maintenance and janitorial operations. Authorizes and manages inventory of controlled tools and equipment for daily use by State Maintenance and Military staff.
  • Vehicle Control Officer (VCO): Manages and assigns usage of a fleet of vehicles for State and Military staff within CE Operations. Must ensure that all vehicles have been inspected for faults according to AF Form 1800 on a daily basis. Must ensure that AF1800 has been signed by authorized users daily. Must ensure that all fleet vehicles are kept clean and refueled. In winter months, must ensure that all required vehicles are equipped and ready for snow removal.
  • Maintenance/Janitorial Inventory Management: Maintain and control inventory of supplies required for daily maintenance and janitorial operations. Will utilize Data Entry and the IEMS Management System for ordering supplies as needed. Will handle Shipping and Receiving of Supplies and Equipment used for CE, Maintenance and Janitorial Operations.
  • Safety Data Management: Maintains and controls records related to Product Safety Data. Record filing system includes Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS), Safety Data Sheets (SDS), Enterprise Environmental Safety & Occupational Health – Management Information System (EESOH-MIS)
  • Base Snow Removal Operations: To perform all required snow removal and sanding of base roadways, parking lots, sidewalks, entrance ways and flight line.
  • Badging and Security Clearance: Schedules and coordinates on base visits and security clearance/badging processes for outside vendors.
  • Operations Duties: Manning the Civil Engineering Operations Administrative Post could include signing in and out of non-base employees and contractors, answering phones from the CE Call Center, directing and escorting non-base personnel to areas of need, to do related work as required.
