Reimagine What’s Possible Air Products and Chemicals, Inc. a world-leading manufacturer of industrial gases, has an immediate opportunity for an experienced Operations Technician for its Convent, Louisiana SMR facility. The Convent, LA SMR H₂ facility currently consists of one Steam Methane Reformer (SMR) and associated equipment used to produce high‑purity hydrogen, as well as a Steam Turbine Generator that provides power for the facility. The hydrogen is compressed and delivered through the Gulf Coast hydrogen pipeline, supplying customers from New Orleans to Galveston Bay. The facility operates on a 24/7 basis and is supported by plant operators, technical staff, and support personnel to ensure the safe, reliable production and delivery of products to our customers. Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Minimum of five (5) years of experience in a plant setting preferred.
• Basic computer proficiency and software knowledge, including Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
• Previous work history and/or military experience
• Desire and ability to work in a team environment
• This is a safety sensitive position
• Willing to work a 12-hour rotating shift schedule.
• Climb ladders and steps and lift a minimum of 50 lbs.
• Meet call-in requirements as needed.
• Elevated work required.
• Work in all weather conditions.

Nice To Haves

• Steam Turbine Generator experience is a plus
• Electrical, instrument or mechanical maintenance experience a plus
• Ability to read/understand piping and instrumentation drawings a plus
• Experience with personal computers and/or DCS systems

Responsibilities

• Monitor and adjust plant process conditions using various valves and operating equipment
• Maintain log book of operation activities.
• Solving plant process upsets using various indicators and DCS trends.
• Handle daily routines to include water treatment, equipment inspection, and log sheet readings.
• Perform preventative maintenance tasks.
• Maintain online training program requirements.
• Issue safety work permits and perform lock out / tag out of various process equipment.
• Inspect all work areas on a continuous basis for any mechanical problems, safety hazards and unusual operation conditions.
• Keep work and supply areas in a safe, clean, and orderly condition.
• Ensure that all plant safety procedures are followed.
• Attend and contribute to our safety initiatives and monthly safety meetings.
• Perform troubleshooting on equipment and make repairs if possible.
• Assist in reviewing and updating operating procedures as required.
