Marathon Petroleum Operations Technician – Burley, ID and/or Pocatello, ID Overview: The Operations Technician position is located at Marathon’s Burley, ID and/or Pocatello, ID facility. This position works in and around petroleum products facilities, executing Operations & Logistics, Damage Prevention, Right of Way Relations, and Earning Your Trust Public Awareness activities. The successful candidate will perform such duties as: locating pipelines, monitoring line crossings, maintaining line markers, pigging operations, and inspecting, operating and maintaining remote facilities. The candidate shall prove meter deliveries at Burley Takeoff Station. The candidate will perform light maintenance and may assist other area technicians in work activities. Working schedule is Monday to Friday, 8-hour day. Travel, call-outs, and overtime will be required on an as-needed basis. Candidate will be on-call for emergency one-calls every weekend unless requested off. The successful candidate is required to live within 45 minutes of the reporting location (Burley, ID and/or Pocatello, ID)

Requirements

  • A high school diploma or GED is required.
  • Proficiency in basic computer skills is expected.
  • Must have a valid driver’s license.
  • The successful candidate will be required to submit to a background check that includes a Motor Vehicle Report.

Nice To Haves

  • An Associate’s degree in a technical field is preferred.
  • Previous pipeline experience with emphasis on ROW and operations is highly preferred.

Responsibilities

  • The Operations Technician will perform tasks associated with pipeline activities, including but not limited to, measurements, perform routine stations checks, respond to and resolve station alarms and communicate findings to appropriate parties, respond to right of way conflicts, generate computerized work requests for maintenance tasks, coordinate and communicate maintenance activities, complete all required training, and perform work in a safe and environmentally conscious manner in accordance with all Environmental, Safety and Regulatory requirements.
