The position involves daily animal care activities including feeding, observing animals for clinical concerns, and nail trimming. Responsibilities also include husbandry activities such as cage cleaning, using power wash and chemical dispensing equipment, and general facility sanitization. The role requires milking of rabbits and supporting activities to meet production goals while adhering to established schedules. Proper restraint of rabbits is necessary for general care, transfers, sample collection, and advanced handling. Technical skills required include administering IM, IV, SC, and IP injections, as well as performing IV blood collection procedures. The individual will assess animals, initiate veterinary care, and execute treatments. Animal identification applications such as ear tags, tattoos, and RFID transponders will also be performed. The role may involve supporting natural and artificial insemination breeding procedures, pregnancy palpation, and kindling/weaning procedures. Accurate documentation using computer and paper-based systems is essential to ensure compliance with regulations and company policies. Understanding of applicable Quality Systems is required, and the individual may be tasked with writing, modifying, and providing training on SOPs/WI/TM. The ability to work independently on assigned projects with minimal supervision is necessary, as well as identifying safety issues and initiating corrective actions. Weekend and holiday coverage is required on a rotating basis.
