The Operations Technician I role at Lumen involves supporting Network Operations Center and Repair activities for Professional Services customers. This position requires strong technical skills to manage alarms and outages in a remote environment, ensuring effective communication and problem resolution for both Lumen and customer-owned hardware and software devices.

  • Support Network Operations Center and Repair activities for Professional Services customers.
  • Solve problems on Lumen and customer owned hardware, transport, and software devices.
  • Use various tools to diagnose, develop and coordinate fix activities.
  • Provide high quality communication to customers via Ticket System, Phone, Email, and IM/Chat.
  • Use technical knowledge to troubleshoot, escalate, and resolve the issues.
  • Work multiple activities while prioritizing tasks based on urgency and impact.
  • Manage time efficiently and document all actions in the ticket system.
  • Understanding of Optical DWDM Transport Equipment (Infinera, Alcatel/Nokia, Ciena 6500, and/or Waveserver)
  • IP Equipment (Juniper - Junos Routers), Cisco, and/or Adva
  • Experience supporting Dark Fiber, Waves, MPLS, DIA, IPVPN
  • Raman Amps
  • Alarm Monitoring Systems (i.e. RFM, Solarwinds)
  • Ability to follow processes in ticketing platform (Remedy, ServiceNow)
  • Understanding of circuit designs and inventory systems (XLRs, DLRs, CLRs)
  • Troubleshooting technology solutions
  • Associate's degree or equivalent education and related experience
