About The Position

Southern is growing rapidly across multiple divisions including manufacturing, transportation, crane operations, and logistics. As we scale, we are building the internal systems that support how work moves across the organization. We are looking for an Operations Systems Developer to design, build, and maintain the operational applications that support these workflows. This role combines process engineering, system architecture, and application development. You will work directly with operational leaders to understand real-world challenges, design improved processes, and build the systems that support those processes. You will play a central role in designing and building the systems that power Southern’s operations.

Requirements

  • 4–8+ years developing or supporting operational business systems
  • Experience working in manufacturing, industrial, or operational environments
  • Hands-on experience building or configuring business applications
  • Strong SQL and relational database understanding
  • Experience working with ERP systems (production, inventory, purchasing, planning, etc.)
  • Experience designing data structures and workflow automation
  • Ability to translate operational requirements into working systems

Nice To Haves

  • Quickbase or other low-code platforms (Power Apps, SmartSuite, Airtable, etc.)
  • API integrations and system connectivity
  • Workflow automation tools
  • Database design and data modeling
  • Scripting or programming experience (Python, JavaScript, or similar)

Responsibilities

  • Partner with operations leaders to understand workflows across manufacturing, fleet operations, purchasing, logistics, and support functions
  • Translate operational challenges into structured process and system designs
  • Design data models and application architecture for operational systems
  • Build and configure applications using low-code platforms such as Quickbase
  • Develop integrations between operational systems and ERP platforms
  • Write SQL queries and database logic to support system functionality and reporting
  • Build automated workflows, triggers, and pipelines that streamline business processes
  • Support ERP modules including production, inventory, purchasing, planning, and quality
  • Lead system design, development, testing, and deployment for internal operational tools
  • Maintain system performance, troubleshoot issues, and implement enhancements
  • Document systems, data structures, and operational workflows
  • Train internal users and support adoption across departments
