The Work Control Planner is responsible for managing daily activities supporting design, construction, startup, and operations of complex, high-hazard systems in a DOE Category 2 nuclear facility. This role provides expert guidance on Radiation Protection and technical issues, offering recommendations to project design, work control, and construction teams. The position conducts independent reviews, enforces work standards, assigns schedules, and ensures high-quality execution while coordinating with management, customers, and functional organizations. Additionally, it provides leadership to project teams, supervises senior personnel, and supports the successful delivery of complex, high-technology projects

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, science, or equivalent experience in Radiation Protection.
  • 8+ years relevant experience, including 5+ years in DOE Cat 2 nuclear facility Radiation Protection or work planning.
  • Expertise in Radiation Protection, high-hazard systems, and work control.
  • Ability to handle confidential information with discretion
  • Strong communication and organizational skills
  • Ability to work through problems quickly and effectively and define a clear path to resolution

Nice To Haves

  • Prior Field Work Supervisor or line management experience preferred.
  • Experience in DOE radiological or Plutonium facilities desirable.

Responsibilities

  • Manage daily activities supporting design, construction, startup, and operations of high-hazard systems in a DOE Cat 2 nuclear facility.
  • Provide expert guidance and recommendations on Radiation Protection and technical issues to project teams.
  • Conduct independent reviews and assessments in areas of specialized expertise.
  • Develop and enforce work standards, assign schedules, and ensure quality execution of tasks.
  • Coordinate with management, customers, and functional organizations to support project goals.
  • Provide leadership to project teams and supervise senior personnel to ensure successful project delivery.
  • Maintain accurate documentation and records related to job functions.
  • Collaborate with internal departments and external partners, as necessary.
  • Ensure compliance with all applicable safety standards, company policies, and regulatory requirements.
  • Promptly report unsafe conditions, equipment issues, or incidents to management.
  • Participate in required training sessions and safety briefings.
  • Perform other duties as assigned to meet operational needs.
