About The Position

The Operations Support Coordinator (OSC) ensures that Outpatient Clinic Operations, Revenue Cycle and Discharge Planning processes are in place so that Behavioral Health services operate efficiently and professionally. This role will ensure there is a continuum of care from the inpatient discharge planning stage to outpatient. The coordinator partners closely with IP and OP Providers, Revenue Cycle team, Social Workers and Discharge Planners to develop and advance the day-to-day processes and procedures necessary to achieve top performance. The OSC will manage and be responsible for the OP Clinic. This includes scheduling, registration, billing, discharge planning, and assistance with resources related to Social Determinants of Health. The OSC will also be responsible for ensuring the necessary components for Transitional Care Management (TCM) are in place, this includes the 48-hour call post discharge and the seven-day follow-up appointment. The OSC is responsible for supporting Social Workers and Discharge Planners in handling difficult discharges and ensuring authorized days of service match the patient’s needs. The OSC will also assist the Discharge Planners during times of absence or high volume. The OSC has full access to patient health information. Responsible for chart audits, revenue cycle reports that benefit patient care and flow, DA2 reporting, Partners Alpha + and processing Provider ProFees. In addition- the OSC will be the IDBH liaison with Partners Tailor Made and State Indigent Plan, including tracking and reporting indigent days and Medicaid re-authorizations. Audits registration errors, payor issues, indigent patient days, avoidable days and documentation issues that delay coding and affect DNFB and AR. Reviews revenue cycle issues to leadership team.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  • Five years of work experience in a healthcare setting, with three years of medical office management required (revenue cycle, billing, patient registration, insurance verification
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft office software (Word, Excel, etc.) and all office equipment.
  • Working knowledge of medical terminology, computer systems and software, insurance, medical/legal issues relevant to Behavioral Health, accounts receivable management, bookkeeping, and coding.
  • Ability to perform and instruct/train others in essential OP Clinic functions.
  • Ability to make decisions independently and to resolve problems/conflicts in an effective manner.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Sit, stand as needed to complete the functions of the job.
  • Ability to lift and move up to 30 pounds.
  • Ability to remain alert and attentive throughout the shift.
  • Ability to communicate with patients, staff and other individuals.

Nice To Haves

  • Associate’s or Bachelor’s Degree in Healthcare Management or Business Administration preferred
  • Working knowledge of patient registration and discharge processes.
  • Ability to decipher insurance reconciliations, prior authorizations and timely filing procedures.
  • Ability to train staff to complete the necessary functions of the OP Clinic roles.
  • Understanding of the Revenue Cycle process
  • Experience with Discharge Planning for Behavioral Health patients
  • Familiar with Transitional Care Management Services
