Just look up. Are you ready to go beyond? The Pratt & Whitney Auto Air site is looking for an Operations Supervisor (M2). The principal duty of this position is to provide supervision, leadership, and support to the business on 1st Shift, ensuring smooth and efficient operations for various manufacturing Cells in our Aftermarket business. The person in this role will continually search for opportunities to enhance the production processes and the product using a variety of problem-solving techniques, effective interpersonal and communication skills, along with technical competency. A successful Cell Leader will motivate, coach, and encourage employees to optimize career development and personal satisfaction. The Cell Leader will also promote excellent employee relations and empowerment of all assigned personnel.

Requirements

  • Advanced degree and 6 months of experience in Military, Manufacturing, Business Operations Management, Engineering, Aerospace or Aftermarket industry; OR Bachelor’s degree and 2+ years of relevant industry experience; OR associate’s degree and 4+ years of relevant industry experience; OR High School diploma or Military / Technical Training and 6+ years of relevant industry experience

Nice To Haves

  • Degree in STEM field; Engineering, Business or Supply Chain.
  • FAA Airframe & Powerplant certificate (A&P license)
  • Personnel management experience, ideally within a bargaining unit / union workforce environment.
  • Proven ability to lead mentoring, coaching, developing talent and motivate teams to achieve business goals.
  • Demonstrated experience in P&L management, with a track record of delivering financial performance.
  • Aftermarket Aerospace and Overhaul and Repair (MRO) industry experience.
  • Working knowledge of Pratt & Whitney shop practices, quality standards, processes and procedures
  • Understanding of Lean Manufacturing principles, and continuous improvement tools (CORE/ACE/SixSigma, QCPC and RCCA).
  • Experience using Microsoft Office Suite programs, SAP ERP, and Solumina MES.
  • Ability to work and effectively communicate with all levels of management, shop personnel and customers.

Responsibilities

  • Manage all aspects of assigned Union hourly workforce that is performing manufacturing of composite parts, FAA Safety Sensitive Work (Time & attendance, time off, rewards, vouchering, training, communications, etc.)
  • Demonstrates commitment to the EH&S program by complying with all policies and procedures, completing all required training, and supporting all applicable committee activities.
  • Meet business metrics goals as defined for each cell (Cost, Quality, Delivery, EH&S)
  • Lead process improvement opportunities to enhance quality, decrease process cycle time and reduce operational costs.
  • Implement root-cause corrective actions in a timely manner to ensure quality standards are maintained.
  • Plan, schedule and assign jobs/labor for complex manufacturing operations.
  • Meet the schedule, plan and execute contingency plans.
  • Commitment to Train and perform Toolbox talks/Coach employees to develop a motivated, effective team.
  • Facilitate shift to shift communications, ensuring pass downs are communicated daily.
  • Understand job and labor costing.
