About The Position

Reporting to the Director of Operations, this position is responsible for providing leadership and training to packaging and bulk loadout personnel to ensure all daily production requirements are met. You will supervise the daily tasks of SEMO Milling’s loadout & packaging operations team to attain production and quality goals; identify problems or production bottlenecks and resolve issues; ensure resources including materials, equipment and personnel are available to maintain production schedules; and support continuous improvement goals in safety, quality, cost and customer service.

  • Must have a Class A CDL or be willing and able to obtain one within 6 months of hire date.
  • High School Diploma or GED, College Preferred
  • 5 years of lead operator or supervisory experience
  • Mechanical aptitude and base electrical knowledge
  • Familiarity with automated process controls
  • Computer literacy in Excel, Word and other Microsoft tools
  • Exceptional leadership skills
  • Must have valid driver’s license.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise personnel in packaging and bulk loadout (shipping) departments.
  • Must work 5:30am-5:30pm on Thursday- Sunday on site.
  • Provide machinery expertise for each process equipment item. Troubleshoot operational and machinery problems as necessary.
  • Make on-line process control decisions to maintain safety, quality and productivity as required and/or directed.
  • Coordinate with Lab personnel to ensure finished product quality specifications are within guidelines.
  • Track efficiency and performance of personnel and processes in packaging and bulk loadout (shipping department).
  • Enforce the SOP system to meet department goals.
  • Train operators and support department personnel as needed. Support and nurture a team working environment within the department. Provide team member feedback and support employee reviews.
  • Utilize the IMS sand SPC systems where applicable.
  • Maintain work environment in a clean and orderly fashion following all GMP and BRC standards and always being audit ready.
  • Provide plant updates to the Sales/operations leadership team. Downtime, customer service, fill rates, etc.
  • Communicate with Hominy drivers and customers to ensure loads are being scheduled and picked up timely.
  • Work with maintenance to enter work orders for repairs, proactively address mechanical concerns before they become downtime events, to allocate resources based on priority to the plant.
  • Follow all Personnel Safety policies/procedures, including the use of proper PPE, as well as ensure the safe use of required tools and equipment.
  • Follow all Food Safety, Quality Assurance, GMP's, Sanitation and general plant policies/procedures.
  • Inspect products for overall appearance according to customer and QA/Food Safety requirements and communicate with supervisor when non-conforming products are present.
  • Communicate all safety or environmental issues to supervisors/managers.
  • At end of shift, secure all paperwork, perform general housekeeping duties.
  • Complete and keep record of necessary paperwork for documenting process parameters and recordkeeping requirements for FSQA.
  • Perform duties and deliver results while adhering to safety and food safety policies without compromising team values. Ensure regulatory compliance and follow established Human Resources procedures.
  • Ensure proper staffing, training, and adherence to area SOP’s.
  • Follow all Human Resources policies and procedures.
  • Perform employee performance evaluations and issue disciplinary action when needed.
  • Develop and support key indicators to measure quality and productivity.
  • Utilize the Integrated Management System (IMS). Ensure that ongoing continuous improvement is achieved. KPI’s are being utilized to ensure we are affecting the bottom line.
  • Foster good working relationships with area floor leads, department managers. Operate with simplicity, clarity, and transparency.
  • Deal with and drive change. Organize, prioritize, and own multiple tasks while meeting or exceeding deadlines.
  • Learn and apply new technology and share your knowledge with others.
