About The Position

Illinois American Water is seeking a motivated and ambitious leader to join our operations in Godfrey, IL. This role is an excellent opportunity for someone looking to sharpen their leadership and management skills, while expanding their knowledge of the water utility business. The supervisor will support all facets of our operations including production, distribution, and collections. Note this role has the flexibility to be based at our operations center in Godfrey or Jerseyville.

Requirements

  • Knowledge of the regulated water/wastewater business and the regulations impacting the business preferred.
  • Knowledge of process and operational areas.
  • Strong communication both oral and written.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage and prioritize tasks.
  • Bachelor's or equivalent experience preferred.
  • Minimum 2-5 years' experience in operations/production.
  • Applicable water/wastewater certifications preferred.
  • Must possess a valid driver's license.
  • Ability to sit, stand, bend, and walk for long periods of time.
  • Lift minimum 25lbs.
  • Occasional hands-on work required.
  • Ability to obtain necessary certifications.
  • Ability to build relationships with customers, union, management level staff, local operations staff, and other stakeholders.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise the day-to-day operations of water and/or wastewater distribution or production systems in accordance with Company policies and procedures and all applicable governmental laws and regulations.
  • Supervise and coordinate capital projects, operations, and maintenance within established budget limitations.
  • Assure policies, procedures, programs and performance are adhered to ensure the continuing and increasing operational efficiency, effectiveness, and profitability.
  • Support the training and development of personnel in proper operational integrity (quality, environment, reliability, health, safety, security, etc.) is maintained.
  • Support customer service-related issues.
  • Lead, motivate and develop staff in the assigned operation area.
  • Support management to ensure effective people management policies and practices are developed and implemented.
  • Continue to reinforce the importance of developing a diverse workforce.
  • Work collaboratively with other functional leads to mitigate business risks.
  • Implement effective communications at all levels of our operations.
  • Provide effective leadership that will enhance our abilities to be flexible to changing business environments.
  • Contribute to effective communication by listening and providing constructive feedback.
