About The Position

Old Dominion Freight Line is seeking an Operations Supervisor to join our dynamic team. This role is pivotal in managing a shift or section within a service center, ensuring that all operations align with the company's standards for safety, quality, efficiency, cost, service, and delivery. The Operations Supervisor will be responsible for training and developing employees, maintaining housekeeping standards, and ensuring compliance with local, state, and federal safety regulations, including OSHA and DOT compliance. The ideal candidate will be committed to fostering a culture of safety and continuous improvement, while also providing innovative solutions to meet customer expectations. In this role, the Operations Supervisor will monitor and evaluate the safety of employees daily, providing training on safety processes as needed. They will oversee the planning, loading, and unloading of freight, ensuring that all operations are conducted safely and efficiently. The supervisor will manage pickups and deliveries, ensuring proper utilization of employees and equipment, while also working closely with service center management to meet business objectives. Daily inspections will be conducted to ensure compliance with safety regulations, and the supervisor will provide constructive feedback to employees regarding productivity metrics such as ROI, MPH, and delivery errors. The Operations Supervisor will also be responsible for operating various internal freight monitoring systems, conducting daily shift meetings, and making informed decisions based on volume levels. This position requires a strong understanding of company and government regulations, as well as the ability to complete necessary documentation for freight movement. The supervisor will play a key role in maintaining a positive work environment and ensuring that the OD family spirit is upheld throughout the service center.
